Great Lakes Exposition 1936-1937

The Great Depression of 1929 left many with a need to reinvent and reinvest in their communities using the resources available to them.  Cleveland jumped on the bandwagon to uplift itself both economically and emotionally with the development of the Great Lakes Exposition in 1936.  What was once the city dump located next to the Municipal Stadium on the lakefront became a part of the impressive, 135 acre exhibit that stretched from Public Square to the Stadium and continued as far as East 22nd Street.
