This is just a small portion of the ships that have been on the Great Lakes. The ships shown here were important to the shipment of iron ore from the mines in the Lake Superior region to Lake Erie where the factories were located in Cleveland, Lorain, Toledo, and other places.
There are some important men that have come from Cleveland. The impact they made was in ship design, unloading methods, and iron ore mining and shipping.
This section shows maps and photos of the Cuyahoga River during the early 1900s compared to some photos of the river today there is a definite notice of the lack of business along the river. There are organizations trying to develop the river banks but anything set in stone is hard to tell at this point.
