Cleveland Comes Full Circle

Stretching beyond the city limits, the outlying farm areas known simply as "the heights" were developed by successful business owners.  These areas came to be the suburbs Cleveland Heights, Euclid Heights, Lakewood and the most well known, Shaker Heights to name a few.  Large houses and large lots became the standard of these areas. The Van Swearingen family helped establish the reputation of these areas by building a large estates and encouraging the development of a lasting, desireable community. 

The Shaker Heights plan shows the creation of a new standard of living. One of space and luxury. The homes featured are an example of the American Dream coming to life.
