What's for Lunch?: A Taste of Northeast Ohio Food Industries and Their Development
Schwebel's Now
Schwebel Baking Company was founded in 1906 in Campbell, Ohio, in the home of Joseph and Dora Schwebel. Since then, families have been asking for Schwebel's breads by name.
Schwebel's has grown into a company proud to serve customers in a wide and ever-expanding market area, and has kept ahead of the competition by staying on top of new trends in the marketplace.
With locations in Youngstown (its headquarters), Cuyahoga Falls, Solon and Hebron, the company is still owned and operated by the Schwebel family of Youngstown. Ten members of the family work in the business on a daily basis.
Schwebel's bread is sold in grocery stores, supermarkets, convenience stores, restaurants, schools and churches in Ohio, western Pennsylvania, western New York, and northern West Virginia.
Producing close to a million loaves of breads and packages of buns a day is a pretty big job. Schwebel's is fortunate to have one of the baking industry's most highly trained and experienced baking teams and the most innovative baking equipment available today. The company also relies on careful, slow-batch mixing techniques to keep their quality as great as that begun in their grandparents' time.
