Cleveland was an ideal spot to establishs water transportation. With Lake Erie to the north and the Cuyahoga River's mouth at the heart of the city, Cleveland made a great industrial location. Cleveland was linked to other cities via the Great Lakes and the Cuyahoga River. With new modes of transportation, more people and industry came to Cleveland.
