Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway Depot c. 1907 near Mill and Spring Street. The passenger depot was built in the 1890s and discontinued its service in 1947.
Since the first rail line came through Amherst, Ohio in 1852 many traffic problems occurred. In 1892 the city constructed bridges such as this one located over Main Street.
The Collinwood, Ohio railroad yards and factories are flanked on the north and south by residential areas. The neighborhood epitomizes the early twentieth century urban pattern of living close to the workplace.
