The Hope Memorial Bridge, originally the Lorain-Carnegie Bridge, opened in 1932. The bridge was renamed the Hope Memorial Bridge in 1983 in honor of entertainer Bob Hope, whose father, William Henry Hope, was a Cleveland stonemason.
