In the mid-1970s Cuyahoga County's archivist introduced a plan to build a garden mall on the old Rocky River Bridge. The mall was not to be; the bridge was razed in 1981.

The Lorain-Rocky River Bridge is built over the Rocky River Valley in 1935. It replaced the original one built in 1897.
