Description
This is a photograph taken in the interior of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 9016 Buckeye Road, Cleveland, during the funeral mass of Monsignor Charles Boehm in April 1932. Monsignor Boehm was a Hungarian Roman Catholic priest who immigrated to Cleveland in 1891 to minister to the spiritual needs of Roman Catholic Hungarians living in the Buckeye Road neighborhood of Cleveland. He organized the fund raising and construction of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church (the original red brick church building) and, in 1892, became its first pastor.
