Title

Detroit-Superior Bridge Subway

Subject

Detroit-Superior Bridge (Cleveland)
Veterans Memorial Bridge (Cleveland, Ohio)

Description

Automobiles to the right: cars and streetcars run side by side as the Detroit-Superior Bridge rises in the background. Known today as the Veteran's Memorial Bridge, it opened in 1917 and connects downtown with the west side. Cleveland’s streetcar system ended in the 1950s. The lower level of the bridge, which carried streetcars, is closed today but a tour of that level is available a few times each year.
