Description
A machinist at work in the Warner & Swasey Co. plant, circa 1940. Warner & Swasey was once a leading manufacturer of machine tools, with a world-wide reputation for its telescopes and precision instruments. The company later focused its efforts on the production of turret lathes before diversifying into other sectors after World War II. After 110 years of manufacturing in the Cleveland area, the company shuttered its last factory in January of 1992.
