Description

The Lorain Road Bridge is also known as the Lorain-Carnegie Bridge and the Hope Memorial Bridge. Nearly a mile long, it was originally called the Lorain-Carnegie Bridge when it opened in 1932. The bridge was renamed the Hope Memorial Bridge, in honor of Cleveland’s entertainer Bob Hope, after being closed for repairs between 1980 and 1983. West Side Market is in the lower left of the photo, across from the Central Bank sign. The bridge leaves the west side near West 25th Street and reconnects to the east side of Cleveland near Ontario Street.
